blog love

I am probably in front of the computer 80% of the time I am awake. Even when I am watching a tv show, I have a hard time tearing myself away from the ambient glow of my precious MacBook. Most of the time I am working, really. But there are blogs that I do check when I need to treat myself a little. Some are truly guilty pleasures, like the gossip blogs, but others I feel are necessary to keep myself up-to-date with what is going on in the crafting world. Here are just three of the many favorites I have.

1. The Purl Bee. This blog that originates from the Purl store in Soho, NY is more than just a yarn shop blog. They feature projects that run the gamut from knitting to embroidery to quilting and more. The tutorials are detailed and easy to follow. Further, the bloggers are experts in the field, many of them authors of popular craft books such as 'Last Minute Knitted Gifts.' This site is well worth a few moments of your time just for inspiration or to find a project to busy your idle hands.

2. You Grow Girl. Gayla Trail has established not only a blog, but a forum and community of like minded gardeners and botanical enthusiasts. Featuring posts on organic gardening, urban gardening, seed starting, this is a one-stop site to find answers to your burning gardening questions. If what you are looking for is not in the archives, you will surely find some information in the very active forums.

3. Just Something I Made. This is the blog of Cathe Holden, a mother, crafter and graphic designer. I love the warmth with which she writes about her life and family, she is truly delightful to read. Her blog offers tutorials and even posts free downloadable graphics for you to use on your website. Check it out if you haven't already.

What are your favorites?
